Turf Tips: Pre-Emergent Fertilizer

The midwest has some 60 degree weather in the forecast which may make you anxious to get outside to apply pre-emergent fertilizer on your lawn. However, despite the mild weather, the beginning of March is too early to make these applications. If herbicide is applied now it will not be there in July when the turf actually needs it. The best time to make this application is between March 20 and April 30 to ensure the herbicide is still there in the summer.
